Sustainable Recovery for Men
The Westchester Men’s Program is Release Recovery’s flagship residence. Opened in 2017, the Men’s Program has established itself as a paragon of transitional living for men 18 and older. With combined decades of experience in the recovery field, our Founders built Release as a commitment to providing men and their families with the comprehensive services required to achieve long-term sobriety. In its three years of operation, the Release Recovery Westchester Men’s Program has helped many people reclaim their lives from addiction and repair their relationships with those they love.
Recovery in Westchester
Our newly renovated nine-bedroom country estate features countless amenities including an indoor heated pool, sauna, ping-pong and billiards table. The property is landscaped to encourage self-reflection, recreation and fellowship. A cottage has been converted into a work area for clients to pursue the continuation of their varied educational and professional endeavors. At the heart of Westchester County, clients will discover ample outdoor recreation, including hiking trails on nearby nature preserves like Clarence Fahnestock State Park and the Teatown Lake Reservation, as well as convenient access to the Metro North Railroad with direct service to Manhattan. For those clients interested in continuing or pursuing their educations, a variety of the country’s best colleges and universities are within commuting distance. Most importantly, an array of 12-step meetings, SMART recovery meetings, and some of New York’s top-rated outpatient care is available to clients every day. Numerous local recovery specialists, psychiatrists and therapists have forged long-lasting professional relationships with Release, and are always willing to take new clients. In addition, we provide clinical referrals for clients and their family members, treatment placement, and private drug testing on the premises. Our reach and sober networks extend beyond Westchester County, and we are equipped to work with families across the country.
Safe, supportive community
We are dedicated to helping clients build a strong foundation in early recovery. Through our individualized program of intensive support and supervision, we guide clients toward a life of accountability. Our clients learn to make purposeful decisions while exploring their passions and potentials. We provide 24/7 supervision in the first month of residency—the safety of our clients is tantamount to their success, and our staff will always provide transportation—and offer full, structured days of volunteer work, recovery meetings, and group activities. Through our individualized 4 Tier recovery program, clients will learn to nurture their recoveries, gain the skills to pursue their ambitions, explore healthy and productive outlets for self-growth, and ultimately practice sustainable self-sufficiency. Release is more than just a place to live. Release is a community dedicated to helping clients discover their potentials and live their best lives.
A typical day in the Release Recovery Men’s Program
On weekdays, clients are dressed and downstairs by 8am, when they are responsible for preparing breakfast. After breakfast, they will attend an in-house group meeting led by a housemate, who is encouraged to address a topic, share a song, read a passage from a text of their choosing, or anything else that inspires them. Following this, clients will head to work, school, or their outpatient programs, depending on where each individual is in his recovery. Weekday afternoons are reserved for group programs ranging from volunteer work at a nearby Nature Preserve to in-house creative writing workshops led by a local author. Lunch and dinner are prepared daily by our in-house chef, Lola Paz. After dinner, clients will attend a recovery meeting before returning to the house for drug testing and an evening reflections group. Lights out is at 11pm.
On weekends, clients will head to a morning recovery meeting followed by lunch and a group activity. On Sundays, families are encouraged to visit their loved ones at the house, or take a loved one out for a meal at one of the local restaurants.
